Steve Woodzell is a producer, composer, songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist based in Brooklyn, NY. A lifelong cross-genre musician and avid collaborator, Steve provides a stress-free service to help artists and creative teams explore and develop their sonic identities.
Classically trained on piano from a young age, Woodzell began producing electronic music in middle school with barebones ’90s software. He picked up guitar at age 14, building his first guitar from a kit and playing constantly ever since. By 2006, Woodzell’s first solo commercial release had arrived via Florida electronic label Nulogic Records. Around the same time, Woodzell headed to New York City, soon kicking off a stint as a studio assistant to Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Toby Gad, learning invaluable skills both as an engineer and as a creative partner for artists in the studio.
Woodzell works with singers and other collaborators both locally and remotely, producing commissioned and original work from concept to final mix and master. Having grown up on minimal production software, Woodzell is also a dedicated experimentalist and sound designer, always looking to create compelling original sounds and delving into the possibilities of new and esoteric tools.
Outside of the studio, Woodzell is a frequent fixture in the local NYC live music scene, holding down guitar and songwriting duties in Ernest Ernie & the Sincerities, Witchforce, Automatom, The Butcher Shop, and Thin Lizzy tribute Thick Lizzy. Woodzell can also often be found on stage with F*Bomb, a long-running monthly cover show and downtown NYC institution.
